How to Light my Stove

Lighting

Plenty of kindling is a must here. Good dry sticks or soft wood are ideal.

Stack your kindling sticks ‘’Jenga’’ or ‘’hashtag’’ style.

Place a Mr Sweep wood wool firelighter on the bottom of the fire. Build a stacked pile of kindling sticks Jenga/Hashtag style over and around the firelighter. After 2 rows, place another firelighter. Then one final layer of kindling sticks and one more firelighter. Light the top firelighter with a long stove match, then light the other wood wool firelighters in the pile.

Close the door, make sure your Air Vent is set to ‘’open’’.

Be patient, wait for the kindling to catch.

Wearing your heat proof Stove Glove, place 2 x thin logs, either side of the kindling pile to form a tent type peak shape.

Close the door, make sure your Air Vent is still set to "open".

Your fire should stay lit. If it looks like it may go out, open the door, this will allow more air (oxygen) into the Stove, and keep the fire lit.

Once you can see the logs are fully lit, you can slowly close the Air Vent down.

At this point you should be able to put on another log, sit back and enjoy.

Nice Fire

Windy Days

On cold and windy days, it is very important to get the flue extra warm before adding any fuel. Its quite common for Stove Users, even seasoned users to get caught out by the weather conditions. Atmospherics play a key role in this. When its cold or windy, you must take care to use plenty of kindling and be sure to keep watch over the fire once the door is closed. Make sure you allow more time than normal for the fire to be fully lit in these conditions.
